Events

This page is a showcase of events that Majma has both organised and participated in.

JURRAT!

Jurrat is courage! Our brazen spirit! Our fearless stride to break out of oppressive gendered norms!

In 2013, Majma organised a week long campaign on December 10-16 on gender based violence in association with Swaang, a Mumbai based cultural group. It was done in partnership with almost 20 educational institutions, community and cultural groups and was supported by ActionAid India, Oxfam India and Amnesty International.

The campaign asserted the urgent need for us to recognize, speak out and act against the manifold forms of violence faced by women in private and public spaces.

Aaj Ke Naam

An evening of protest songs and poetry!

Some snapshots from the launch of our music album 'Aaj Ke Naam'. We sang our compositions based on the poetry of legendary writers such as Kabir, Faiz, Pash and Gorakh, as also other contemporary poems.

In solidarity, cultural groups such as IPTA-JNU, RCF and Janrang also presented poetry & songs.
